I feel like we need to get Kyle “The Maestro” Scott back in the writing game because the Phillies are exciting again, at least on paper, and they are rolling out spring lineups that honestly are arousing (but not in a sexual way) –

Schwarber, Hoskins, Harper, Castellanos, Realmuto.. I mean good God. Imagine having to get through those five, only to face Didi Gregorius, who cannot be worse than last year, followed by Jean Segura and two guys in Bryson Stott and Mickey Moniak who are having themselves a good month of March. Actually, “good” isn’t the right word to describe Stott, who is hitting better than .550 this spring. He’s on fire to the point where he may be enveloped entirely by flames. It may be outright immolation at the plate, and a corresponding tough decision on Alec Bohm. And maybe Moniak finally takes that step and saves us from a CF platoon involving Odubel Herrera. Things are looking up!

It’s hard not to be excited by the prospect of what the Phillies may be this year. The meat of the order constitutes the best one through five punch they’ve put together since… 2012? 2011? We’re talking a full decade at this point. The defense will not be fantastic, and the bullpen always seems to be an issue, but that doesn’t matter when you’re mashing. If you like runs, you’ll like this edition of the Phils. Just bet the over and you’ll go home with money, win or loss.

Philly is a better sports town when the baseball team is good.
