Howard "The King" Eskin Says Seahawks Aren't Trading D.K. Metcalf
Let’s get it back to the Eagles.
One of the rumors floating around is that the Birds might have interest in Seattle receiver D.K. Metcalf. With Russell Wilson going to Denver, the thought is that the Seahawks might be open to also shipping out Metcalf for some assets as they head into a transitional period.
Would you #DoTheDeal? Apparently there’s no deal even possible, according to THE KING (via the WIP website) –
The Seattle Seahawks turned down the 10th overall pick from the New York Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft for wide receiver DK Metcalf, according to 94WIP’s Howard Eskin.
“The Jets were going to offer, and Seattle knew it, the No. 10 pick in the fist round. I’v (sic) been told by multiple people when somebody calls Seattle about D.K. Metcalf (they said) ‘We’re not trading him. We’re not trading him.’ They don’t even take the offer,” Eskin said. “They just say ‘Nope’ and they just shut it right down. You can’t even make an offer right now.”
Do you believe Howard? He hasn’t had a real scoop since George W. Bush was in office, but The King knows everybody, and we should never doubt sources. Everybody poo-poo’d Joe Santoliquito with the Carson Wentz thing and then Joe was vindicated, so if we’re going to poo-poo Howard on this one, we should TREAD CAREFULLY.
If the Seahawks were smart, they would definitely move Metcalf for assets. If someone is offering you a first rounder for a guy and you just moved on from your Super Bowl-winning franchise QB of the last decade, then shit yeah you trade D.K. and pull back assets. He’s still young, sure, but you can get even younger and much cheaper at the WR position while looking for your next franchise QB.
If Seattle is scared of trading Metcalf, they should get a dog.
EDIT –
Some folks now refuting this:
There’s “no truth” to the report the #Jets offered the No. 10 pick to the #Seahawks for D.K. Metcalf, per multiple sources.
The Jets are interested in a WR. They’d be interested in Metcalf. But there have been no offer because “(Seattle)’s not accepting offers,” per sources.
