Tyrann Mathieu met with the Eagles virtually on Thursday:
Sources: Free agent DB Tyrann Mathieu had a virtual visit with the #Eagles, as Philly has emerged as a prime location for one of the top free agents. The Honey Badger visited the #Saints this week, and now has done a zoom with Philly. His market is heating up.

Yesterday he met with the Saints, and Ian Rapoport reported that Honey Badger is in no rush when a deal could’ve already been signed, but he just wants to get in insane shape. Who among us hasn’t prioritized beach season? –
From NFL Now: FA DB Tyrann Mathieu visited the #Saints yesterday, and there may be others. He is in no rush to do a deal. Right now, the focus is on family and getting in excellent shape. pic.twitter.com/2Sw1CDeYV3

Right now the Eagles are looking at $15 million in free cap space according to Over The Cap. They need to find a replacement for free agent Rodney McLeod and have safety Anthony Harris locked up this year at $2.5 million. According to Spotrac, Mathieu’s market value is 3 yrs/$44.59 million with an AAV of $14.8. The Eagles seem to be trying to get that number some as Mike Garafolo mentions “they’d have interest at the right price” –
The #Eagles have remained in touch with Tyrann Mathieu for some time now. Not a lot of money to work with but they’d have interest at the right price. https://t.co/NpNIVJKYv9

The Honey Badger would be an awesome addition to the defense from a leadership standpoint. He was 1st team All-Pro in back-to-back years (2019 & 2020) and has played in 16 games four times in the last five years. He also has a great story for the young guys in the Eagles locker room. I feel like people forget how awesome he was in college. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2011 as a safety and then kicked off the team for smoking weed before the following season and we didn’t see him again until Week 1 for Arizona in 2013. That’s crazy. He was the third-best corner and drafted in the 3rd round and lost millions of dollars, for weed:
Tyrann Mathieu’s story needs to be heard in every lockerroom. Dude had red flags all over his Draft profile & yet he’s here today while dozens of sure things have come and gone. pic.twitter.com/5tgPJAm8OI
