Ivan Fedotov Update
As you know, Flyers prospect Ivan Fedotov is currently detained in Russia. The goaltender was planning to come over here and join the team but now there’s a very concerning and very blurry situation unfolding over there.
Latest reports:
Upon hearing about the arrest of Ivan Fedotov, Kirill Kaprizov reportedly immediately returned to the United States. His name is linked to fraudulent military IDs being sold to players, including Fedotov, and Kaprizov is now wanted in Russia, per Sport-Express.

Regarding reports that Kirill Kaprizov is wanted in Russia for allegedly buying a military ID in 2017 and has returned to the United States, a #mnwild source says he is not in the U.S. Obviously this is a complicated story and I'm working to see if there's merit.

Kaprisov has played for the Minnesota Wild for two years now. He came from the same Russian team as Fedotov, CSKA Moscow. I’m not totally sure what the military ID thing means, but military service in Russia is compulsory unless the state provides some sort of exemption. The original reporting RE: Fedotov said he was accused of evading this mandatory conscription.
Beyond that brief background, it’s hard to go anywhere from here. Can’t speculate on this story, since it’s fucked up. All we can do is try to follow plugged-in journos and European reports and try to get updates. Hopefully the whole thing is resolved reasonably.
