Peter from Maple Shade Calls WFAN Again, Continues to Whine About Nick Sirianni Tennis Court Encounter
This big Eagles story blew up last week. A guy named “Peter from Maple Shape” called WFAN in New York and claimed that he almost got into a fight with Nick Sirianni at a Haddonfield tennis court because the Birds’ head coach was talking shit about his Yankees and Giants apparel.
Peter then spoke to Jon Marks and Ike Reese via cross-examination, while John Clark and Rob Maaddi worked on the story, and it was determined that an encounter did take place, though Sirianni was just busting chops and giving this guy some crap. Just ribbing him. There was nothing threatening about the interaction. The whole thing was true, but exaggerated, and we thought we’d just leave it at that until Peter called up WFAN again this morning to stand his ground:
Peter went on to complain about WIP because they are allegedly saying he fabricated the whole thing. I don’t know if WIP is saying that or not, but again, there was an interaction and the whole thing just became overblown.
James Kratch at ESNY summed it up pretty succinctly here:
Bottom line: (Peter) was playing tennis at Centennial Park in Haddonfield. So were Sirianni and his wife. Sirianni said something about (his) Giants hat. (Peter) said something back. That’s when each side’s story begins to differ. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Onward.
Sounds about right. We’ll have to get a COMMENT ON THE RECORD from Sirianni when training camp begins and then we can put this thing to bed forever.
