Tony DeAngelo Loved the Flyers, then Hated Them, Now it’s All Good Again

Saw this floating around on Twitter:

This is not fake, it’s real. DeAngelo is a local guy and grew up a Flyers fan. The genesis of that Instagram post stems from the 2014 draft, which was held in Philadelphia.

Explanation here via 97.3 ESPN:

In 2014 the NHL Draft was held in Philadelphia and the Flyers had their chance to draft DeAngelo.  The 24-year old has become one of the top scoring defenders in the NHL with 15 goals and 53 points in 68 games this season, but his hometown team passed on him taking Travis Sanheim instead with the 17th overall pick.

DeAngelo was taken five picks later by the Tampa Bay Lighting at No. 19.

“After that day, my Flyers-fandom was done,” laughed DeAngelo.

Decent draft, 2014. You had Ekblad, Reinhart, and Draisaitl, then David Pastrnak went 25th. Dylan Larkin a nice pick at 15.

Anyway, it appears as though this is now water under the bridge. We good:
