Evan Turner checking in on Twitter:

Yeah, well, a lot has happened since then! Carson was unfortunately injured in Los Angeles, came back in 2018, suffered another injury, and then clawed his way to a 9-7 season before having to exit the playoffs via concussion. He had some good moments, some bad moments, and some locker room issues along the way, but regardless of what’s happened since 2017, he’s playing for a division rival now, therefore Philly is out on him.

Sure, there’s a portion of more erudite fans who can accept that Wentz’s regular season play in 2017 was a contributing factor to home field advantage and the ensuing Super Bowl run, finished off by Nick Foles. At the same time, you go through the individual performances from 2018 to 2020 and note that Carson just never built himself any real momentum aside from that four-game stretch to close out 2019. Throw in whatever media report(s) you believe about Wentz the teammate, and you understand why people began to feel the way they do.

Maybe Turner just finds the whole thing to be corny, and the tweet is open to interpretation. Surely he can ascertain that we cheered the guy as an Eagle and boo him as a Commie now. It’s not that complicated. If, however, Turner is alluding to the overboard reaction whenever Wentz commits a mistake, like Eagles fans forming a circle jerk after every Indianapolis turnover last year, then yeah, that’s kind of cringe. Not applicable in this game though, since, again, it was Eagles vs. Communists in a division matchup.

Turner did try to make amends later:
