Sixers Coaches Had to Call in Backup to Kick Tyrese Maxey Out of the Gym this Summer
This slipped through the cracks during media day Monday. Sixers coaches needed to bring in the big guns to force Tyrese Maxey to leave the gym this summer:
Doc Rivers says they had to kick Maxey and Paul Reed out of the gym multiple times this offseason.
Says Spencer Rivers and Sam Cassell had to go to him for help because they couldn't get Maxey out of the gym themselves.

I love this kid. I can’t believe he’s still only 21. He’s the embodiment of the Philly guard. Hard working, ability to finish through contact, crafty, and can’t play defense.
Maxey has talked about his off-season workout plan in the past. There’s a good chance by the time you read this Tyrese Maxey is finishing his third workout of the day while you’re still wiping the crust from your eyeballs:
He has his “1% better every day” mantra, and if my math is right, that means he should be 138% better since the Sixers season ended. Maybe wanting to trade him for Kevin Durant was delusional when he’s now operating at levels never seen before in the NBA. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for him to be in the MVP conversation. Tyrese Maxey is working harder than a Wawa employee in Philly after 10 p.m.
