Shades of MLB streaming the Phillies’ Father’s Day game on Peacock, the NHL now brings you their version. You’ll have to buy Hulu or ESPN+ or commit to a 7-day free trial and do your best to remember not only the password, but to cancel it before you’re charged.
Unfortunately, this is the future. Exclusive rights for games that usurp local media rights. No Jim Jackson and Keith Jones. Instead you’re getting Bucci or Steve Levy in the booth. Right now I’m streaming Tottenham in the Champions League on Paramount+. I watched them on Peacock exclusively this weekend. All of these streaming services end up being just as expensive as a cable bill when you add internet. Wasn’t the original selling point of streaming to save money? At least they’re training Flyers fans for when they are exclusively on Peacock with the Sixers and Phillies next year.
Russ raises a good question:
Nothing quite like a marquee matchup on the streaming service people have lamented having to get. Will there be more fans in the building or fans streaming this one? https://t.co/eVxK6VbDys
