We’re pretty much done with the San Diego Padres and the fugazi A capela group that brought us the hit single, “That’s what’s in,” but we need to backtrack for a quick moment here and talk about Bob Melvin. This man is being absolutely obliterated by the MLB community for 1) throwing to Bryce Harper on Sunday night with Josh Hader in the same storage closet where Chip Kelly stuffed Howie Roseman back in 2015, and 2) bunting Trent Grisham in the 9th with Austin Nola on deck.

Look at these tweets:

So on and so forth. Not only did Rob Thomson push all the right buttons in these series, but it seemed as though Melvin could not manage his way out of a wet paper bag at the same time. Phillies fans would have been calling for the halcyon days of Gene Mauch had Thomson turned in a performance like his Southern California counterpart in this series.

new lyrics:

“Grisham’s gonna bunt, Bob Melvin stunk… that’s what’s in!”

“Bryce is going deep, Hader might as well be asleep… that’s what’s in!”
