News from New York Mets fan Ian Rapoport:

Talk about burying the lede. They’ll be off Quinn’s contract after the season.

Quinn didn’t have any guaranteed money in 2023 after restructuring last year, which just converted a portion of his salary into the bonus. Chicago did the same thing Howie Roseman has been doing for years, and as they pick up part of his money this year, they get off the rest of the contract and the Eagles essentially take on a one-year rental with a chance to perhaps re-sign Quinn at a more affordable rate next season.

It’s a good deal, regardless, Spending a fourth rounder for rental Quinn, at worst, is worth it. The Eagles don’t often hit on fourth round picks anyway. In the past 10 years, they’ve landed Avonte Maddox, Josh Sweat, and Jack Driscoll as the main contributors. Zech McPhearson and K’Von Wallace are fourth rounders who contribute on special teams, but no real slam dunks other than the guys I mentioned.
