Jamie Lynch is no longer with 97.5 the Fanatic, as we reported Thursday night. He was supposed to travel with the morning show to Arizona ahead of Sunday’s Eagles game, but we’re told he was let go before the flight out to the desert.

John Kincade, Pat Egan, and Bob Cooney are broadcasting live from Phoenix this morning, and they touched briefly on the Lynch exit coming out of their first break:

Kincade:

“Obviously you will notice Jamie is not here. I can only say that we miss Jamie because a situation like this is a time when Jamie is of the greatest joy. We miss him not being here with us today. And if you miss Jamie this morning you can only imagine how much we do. I don’t know how much more to say. I’m not at liberty to say. But we miss him and we wish he was here with us.”

The comments section on the YouTube feed is a doozy. I jumped in there for a bit. It seems like listeners are really upset with the decision.

Again, I’m not entirely sure what happened. One source told me that Beasley needed to shed salary, but so far Jamie is the only departure that I’m aware of, and a sports station rarely lays off talent during football season, so the timing and optics of this seem very odd indeed. We will continue to “effort” information throughout the day.

edit/conspiracy theory – normally layoffs happen on a Friday, right? I think that’s the goofy thing here, like he had a trip scheduled and so they told him he was out on a Thursday instead. maybe there’s more coming today? I honestly have 0 clue.
