Call me crazy, but I don’t think this team would benefit from one single loss. Yet someone much smarter than me and higher up in the NFL thinks they would.

From Jeremy Fowler via ESPN:

“I could see [the Eagles] being a one-and-done — they haven’t had to go 15 rounds with anybody yet,” an NFC exec said. “I just wonder if they are battle tested. I think a few late-season losses would actually help them.”

The Eagles have the rare opportunity to go down as the best and worst 20-0 team of all time. The only undefeated team that nobody ever believed in. And I get it. They’re not particularly dominant at anything. Maybe the run game? The 18-1 Patriots were a juggernaut on offense. Led by multiple Hall of Famers and the GOAT. The 2000 Ravens had one of the best defenses of all time. This team kind of just wins off of a strong, well-rounded roster and vibes. They can beat you through the air or on the ground. The defense will get to the QB or a DB will make you pay if you’re not sharp. They’re led by a second-round QB. Good D and O-Line. They only have one future Hall of Famer on this roster (Jason Kelce). And still the only thing that stands in their way from 10-0 is Taylor Heinecke, Ron Rivera, Sam Ehlinger, and Jeff Saturday. They’re kind of boring to people outside of Philadelphia. But the league this year is boring. Everyone is log jammed in the middle of the standings. Scoring is down. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers stink. It’s a weird year where only four teams really stick out. Realistically, we could be looking at an undefeated Eagles team meeting the Chiefs or Bills in the Super Bowl and actually being underdogs.
