The Phillies Set a World Series Record for Strikeouts

The Phillies have now set the all-time record for strikeouts in a World Series with 71.

That Rays team lost 4-2 to the Dodgers and the 2001 D Backs beat the Yankees in seven. Brandon Lowe struck out 10 times for Tampa and Luis Gonzales and Damian Miller struck out 11 times each for the Diamondbacks, who played one more game than the Phils, but struck out fewer times.
The point of sharing this isn’t to heap more misery on anyone, but we’re debating Rob Thomson and his decisions with the pitching staff when the fact of the matter is that they just didn’t do enough offensively after Game 3. J.T. Realmuto struck out 12 times and hit .167. Nick Castellanos struck out 10 times while batting .125. Rhys Hoskins whiffed 10 times while hitting .120. If they got anything at all from those three, maybe this would have turned out differently.
