Bag it to Broad: Flyers Land Zero Players on TSN's Under 24 Ranking
The Flyers beat the Devils last night. Carter Hart stood on his head with 48 saves and a .980 percentage on the evening. He’s obviously the least of their concerns as we continue on this journey towards a high draft pick.
Meantime, up north, TSN released their top-50 list of NHL players and prospects under the age of 24, and the Flyers landed a grand total of zero players on the list.
- Cale Makar
- Jason Robertson
- Jack Hughes
- Nick Suzuki
- Rasmus Dahlin
- Elias Pettersson
- Jake Oettinger
- Miro Heiskanen
- Quinn Hughes
- Brady Tkachuk
My immediate takeaway there is that the 2017 draft was a killer. The Nolan Patrick draft. The three guys picked right after him are all on this list. Nico Hischier is also in the top 20.
Some AHL and OHL players start to hit in the 30s, plus a couple of college hockey players, two from Minnesota and one from Michigan. But there’s no Morgan Frost or Tyson Foerster or Cam York or Cuttier Gauthier (at least not yet).
It’s one thing for the Flyers to absolutely stink, and rankings are arbitrary, but it would much more palatable if they had some slam dunk prospects in the pipeline. Something to look forward to. That’s why the aura of despair remains connected to this franchise, because at least when the Sixers were going through The Process, there were two future All Stars in the pipeline. Different situation right now with the orange and black.
