Destiny Lugardo at Phillies Nation:

“World Series runner-ups receive rings for winning a pennant. Even though the Phillies came up short in the World Series, most can agree that this season — and what the Phillies accomplished in October — should be celebrated.

Teams get to decide who receives one but for the most part, every player who was on the Phillies roster during the regular season and postseason gets a nice souvenir to put in their trophy case.”

She put together a list of dudes who are eligible for these rings, some of whom I forgot even played for the team this season. Remember Jeff Singer and Bradley Zimmer? Yeah, me neither, but I’m a casual.

Looking through Baseball Reference, there were 26 guys who had a plate appearance in 2022. At the top of the list is Rhys Hoskins with 672 PA, and at the bottom is… Jose Alvarado? I had to ask Bob and Anthony about that one, and it was the second game of a doubleheader where Kyle Schwarber had to go into the field, which forfeited the DH spot and meant Alvarado had to bat.

Other sluggers? Oscar Mercado had one strikeout and Donny Sands and Simon Muzziotti are also on the list.

As for pitching, Tyler Cyr and Darick Hall each threw 0.1 innings this season. Bubby Rossman, Nick Maton, and Nick Duron all tossed an inning, so watch out for the Cy Young award in 2023.

It’s a good story, made me laugh:
