Not sure if you remember a few months back, but Jalen Hurts chided the Eagles beats because they didn’t ask him about the Arizona Cardinals. It happened again during Wednesday’s midweek press conference:

Hurts was asked about the Micah Parsons podcast appearance and other topics. In his world, he’s focused on Chicago and he’s not going to be distracted by things he deems unimportant, which is understandable.

But let’s be honest with ourselves here –

The reason no one asked about the Bears’ defense is because nobody gives a shit about the Bears defense. All you need to know is that the Bears’ defense is ass. They give up the fourth-most points per game. They’re only stopping two things right now – jack and shit, and jack left town.

Fans seem to love when Hurts does this, because he’s teaching the media a lesson or something like that. I won’t disagree with the thought that better questions could be asked of the players and coaches, but Hurts rarely gives anything interesting anyway, because he comes from the Nick Saban school of “the media is out to get you and they peddle in rat poison” and assorted other stuff I am paraphrasing.

Here’s what he said when John McMullen decided to throw him a bone at the end of the press conference and ask about the Bears’ stank ass defense:

“I think they’re young, they have a lot of new players, they play fast and they’re disruptive up front. They do a lot of good things up front, I feel like getting to the quarterback and kind of disrupting the running game. I think their defensive backs are really, really young but they’re good, they’re talented and they play their scheme well. Same old, same old in terms of us preparing for a good defense. They played in a lot of close football games, too, and I think that’s something we have to realize. We got to go out there and prepare to be in a dog fight.”

Whole bunch of nothing right there. He’s just showing respect to that team and that unit because it’s the right thing to do, even though we all know that the Bears blow butt. They’re 3-10 for a reason.

They should just get rid of the Hurts pressers entirely. For real. Let the MVP candidate continue to cook. He’s playing at such a high level right now. I don’t need to hear him speak to another reporter or deliver another quote until the summer. This guy is putting together one of the best Eagles QB seasons of all time, so whenever he sits down in front of a microphone it feels incredibly unimportant.
