A.J. Brown Offers Blunt Assessment of Pick Six

Here’s A.J. Brown on the pick-six:

Translation: Minshew should have never thrown that pass in the first place. Brown didn’t exactly put much effort into the route because he didn’t think the ball was coming his way. Divvy up the blame as you see fit.

Minshew said this about the play, via Jori Epstein at Yahoo:

“We ran the same play earlier against the same coverage & they made a great adjustment to it, jumped the route. I should have seen that leverage when we made the motion. I assumed since it was the same coverage, he was going to play it the same.”

Fair enough.

Bigger story is two weeks in a row now that starters have sort of thrown backups under the bus. Darius Slay last week with Josiah Scott and Brown with Minshew this week. Regardless of right or wrong, it’s not a great look in the optics department to blame a teammate publicly, but we can’t have it both ways. We either get honesty (and answers) or nothing at all, so take your pick.
