The 49ers Have Their Share of National Poser Cockroach Fans, Like the Cowboys and Steelers

Two years ago, San Francisco 49ers fans “descended” upon Lincoln Financial Field:

And by “descended,” I mean they traveled all the way from Delco and South Jersey, because they’ve got the same type of national/poser fans as the Cowboys, Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Yankees.

Seriously. This is an underrated topic and one that probably flies under the radar here in Philly, since San Francisco is on the opposite coast and they aren’t a division rival, but they have a HUGE national fanbase. They don’t have as many cockroaches as the Cowboys do, but they’re very similar to the Steelers, simply because they were successful and found themselves on national television. My dipshit neighbor from Gilbertsville is a 49ers fan, and you know why? I don’t know. I have no clue. He went to Boyertown with me but it was probably one of those things where Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were really good in the 1980s, so he eschewed his hometown Eagles and became a Niners fan instead.

It’s the same logic as all of these dweebs who support Dallas and Pittsburgh. It’s all about Roger Staubach and Terry Bradshaw and Jack Lambert and all of that. Their dad liked those players back in the day, or they lived in Idaho or something and didn’t have a local team, so they just happened to settle on the Steelers, Cowboys, or Niners, three of the most successful NFL teams from 1970 to 1996.

These people are out there. Trust me. They’re also not very smart:
