Whenever there is Jim Bob Cooter news, it will be shared here:

Jim Bob worked with Steichen in Philly in 2021, when he was a consultant. This past season, he linked up with Doug Pederson to be the passing game coordinator in DUUUUUUVAL.

Cooter was the Lions’ OC from 2016-2018, so it’s cool to see him get another coordinator job after a few seasons of bouncing around as a position coach and more peripheral guy.

Nick Sirianni explained Mr. Cooter’s role with the Birds this way:

As far as Jim Bob goes, we brought him in as a consultant. I’ve worked with him in the past. He was my assistant wide out coach in Kansas City, so worked with him in the past. Obviously, he’s got a lot of experience and he’s a great football mind. I think very highly of him.

So, he’s doing special projects for me and consulting here, which has been great. If I see a play or if we talk about a play that — I just think this is really important. When you put a new play into your system that you maybe saw on tape, I think it’s very easy for a coach to do that and be like, ‘Oh, I saw that on tape. This looks great. I’m just going to throw it my offense.’

Obviously he did a lot of work alongside Steichen that year, who was a non-play calling offensive coordinator for a large chunk of season #1. Should be interesting to see what they do in Indy, especially with that sketchy QB situation and working for an owner who seems like a total wackadoo.
