The Eagles are Interviewing Vance Joseph for their DC Position and Your Buddy Ryan Uncle is Going to Love That
The Cardinals released Vance Joseph today and he’s expected to interview with the Eagles and Broncos for their open DC positions:
Meanwhile, #Cardinals DC Vance Joseph not only has an interview request from the #Broncos for the same role (as @mikeklis reported), I’m told the #Eagles have interest in speaking with Joseph as well & are expected to request an interview, pending his meetings today, per source.

This is great news for your Buddy Ryan uncle! Help him get out of his leather recliner and show him this tweet:
Vance Joseph defensive blitz %:
– 2018: 7th (31.3%)
– 2019: 3rd (39.7%)
– 2020: 4th (39.4%)
– 2021: 3rd (35.2%)
– 2022: 2nd (34.5%)Eagles have been one of the 5 least blitzing teams since 2018.

Then get him a new pair of shorts.
You know part of me hopes they hire Joseph. Just to see what happens. Of course it will fail miserably because he just led the 31st ranked defense against an underwhelming NFC West last season. But you can sell me on the entertainment aspect of him calling “Engage Eight” 30 times a game like he’s playing Madden. And when it doesn’t work it’d be awesome to listen to the Buddy Ryan uncles move the goalposts back and spin it why. It’ll be something about adjustments. Even though they don’t have the first clue of what adjustment he should make. This is the Eagles version of the Circle of Life. If the Circle of Life was the seventh level of hell and involved defensive coordinators.
In other DC news the Birds also requested permission to interview the Seahawks associate head coach/defensive assistant Sean Desai:
The Eagles have requested permission to interview Seahawks associate head coach/defense Sean Desai for their vacant defensive coordinator position, per league source.

Sean Desai is a former Temple Owl who was on those late 2000s teams led by Al Golden which pulled Temple football from the depths of hell. He was a defensive coordinator with the Bears for one year and during that year he was in the bottom half of the league in blitz percentage. Only blitzing at 22.6% of the time. That probably won’t be enough for your Buddy Ryan uncle, but it’s .5% more than Jonathan Gannon did.
