If you didn’t catch Team USA’s game against Great Britain on Saturday, you missed an absolute Schwarbomb to put it out of reach:

More like Modest Britain.

That lineup consisting of Trea Turner, J.T. Realmuto, and Schwarber went 3 for 10 with 3 RBI, one homer, and four walks. Turner turned a double play and GB knew better than to steal on the BCIB behind the dish. So what does manager Mark DeRosa do? He benches the Phillies against Mexico in favor of a couple Mets. Pete Alonso took over at the DH spot for Schwarbs and went 0-4 while leaving a duck on the pond. Jeff McNeil couldn’t make this little league play, which lead to a Mexico run:

What is up with American head coaches and their lineups in world tournaments? This is the World Baseball Classic for God’s sake, not some rinky-dink AAU tournament in Florida. We’re the defending champs getting embarrassed on home soil by Mexico. Play the winners. Does DeRosa not follow baseball? Because he just saw first hand what everyone already knew: you can’t trust the Mets in high pressure situations. I wouldn’t trust France to win a World War just like I wouldn’t trust a Met to deliver a title. They’re guys that would rather get a nice set of hair plugs than take hacks in the cage:

Despicable.

Thank God for these mongrels behind the plate bringing some entertainment to a blowout:
