An updated look at the NBA MVP tracker, logged by Max Croes on Twitter (@CroesFire), reveals that Joel Embiid is way out in front. It’s not particularly close right now:

According to the tally, Embiid currently has 20 first place votes, three second place votes, and one third place vote, good for 226 total points (they caution against incomplete data because of missing 4th and 5th place votes). Nikola Jokic is second with 145 points, the result of five first place votes, 10 second place votes, and 5 third place votes. Giannis is third with 128 points and a 5/4/10 split.

So far, votes from THE RINGER are split 2-1 in favor of Embiid. Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo gave Embiid their 1st place votes, while Michael Pina went for Jokic. However, since THE RINGER has 47 people voting for MVP, we’re waiting for the other 44 ballots to come in (sarcasm, thank you).

It appears as though Joel is gonna win it. Not that anybody in the Facebook comments seems to care because IT’S ONLY ABOUT GETTING OUT OF THE SECOND ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS, but more than one thing can be true. It would be great for Embiid to get the MVP award he deserves, and the team gets over the playoff hump at the same time. First round begins Saturday.
