As you know by now, the Phillies’ home opener got moved to Friday because of weather issues, unless there’s some super-secret other reason that nobody knows about.

John Bolaris checking in:

Well that’s true about temps, but it’s gonna be nice on Friday and a lot of people get a three or four-day weekend because of Easter/Good Friday, so that’s not a bad swap. Plus, we could all use a break from the Phillies after they lost again on Wednesday and fell to 1-5 on the season. The only other 1-5 teams in MLB at the Royals and Nationals, so we’re in distinguished company there.

For what it’s worth, Cecily Tynan, who once dunked on Howard Eskin, says we have the possibility for “damaging straight line winds” this afternoon. Sounds ominous. Sue Serio says “strong to severe” storms. We’ll have to tune in for breaking weather updates on television and online. It’s coverage you can count on.

More Bolaris:

“What I was saying you DO-NOT cancel a game based on a potential line of showers & storms . Nobody can accurately predict 24 hrs prior the timing of a potential event . If models are even off by 60 min ( line delays & also the atmospheric set up is vastly different then last Saturday’s severe event ) you get the entire game in barring an extra inning game . Impossible to have pinpoint accuracy in this scenario 24 hrs prior . You make that decision by noon today to see if we have verification . You let the fans know & team of the potential cancellation yesterday by noon today . So everyone is on alert then make the call.”
