Adam Schefter Says Jonathan Gannon Tampering Incident "Impacted a lot of People's Lives"
Adam Schefter was on 97.5 the Fanatic Wednesday morning and said this about the Jonathan Gannon tampering situation, in part:
"I would say yes, some people are unhappy within the organization with how it all went down" – @AdamSchefter on the feelings inside the Novacare center

First things first –
Fangio and Gannon are similar coordinators. Gannon runs a version of Fangio’s system, so it made no sense that people wanted Gannon out and Fangio in, because you would have been complaining about the same things you complained about in 2021 and 2022.
Beyond that, Sean Desai, who did get the job, is also influenced by Fangio, so Eagles fans are just going to have to accept the fact that all three of these guys work from the same basic defensive concepts. On paper, there really does not appear to be much of a difference, at least schematically, in how the Eagles will/would look under those three coordinators, assuming they would have stuck to their principles in 2023.
I think John McMullen summed it up pretty well when he posted this on Twitter Tuesday:
…#Eagles took advantage of that rule and gained draft capital. Kudos to them for winning outside the margins like they usually do and taking advantage of the legislation. The spin that Gannon wasn't invested in winning the Super Bowl is dumb…

For some context, it was reported on Super Bowl weekend that Vic Fangio had signed a two-week contract with the Eagles to aid in game prep. He then was officially named Dolphins defensive coordinator on February 15th, one day after Gannon was named Cardinals head coach.
The timeline is a bit funky, because the first Fangio/Miami rumor came out a few weeks prior, and on January 29th, Tom Pelissero reported that the two sides had agreed to terms on a three-year deal to make him the highest-paid coordinator in the league. AFTER THAT, some rumors started to come out that Fangio had not actually signed the deal or agreed to anything at all, then he was linked to a half dozen other DC jobs, THEN he started working with the Birds on Super Bowl prep before he and Gannon both went official with their new jobs.
So I dunno. Folks need something to be mad at, and Gannon has basically been public enemy #1 since the Super Bowl, which isn’t surprising. In this case, people think the tampering somehow cost the Eagles Vic Fangio, but what exactly was precluding Fangio from coming here after Gannon left? That’s the key point in all of this, because he didn’t go official with Miami until after Gannon departed. We need more clarity on the timeline and then we can begin to flesh out this story and make it make sense.
