The draft continues:

Yeah, that’s Mike Knuble’s son. Wonder if he slipped Danny Briere a hundo to draft his kid. The elder Knuble played alongside Briere during his time in Philly.

Cole is headed to Notre Dame, an 18-year-old center standing 5’11” and weighing 185. Here’s the Elite Prospects blurb:

“A proactive, intelligent support player, he’s always eliminating threats and positioning himself to start the breakout. He’s legitimately talented down-low and around the net. When not battling along the boards before cutting back and making a quick backhand pass inside, he’s locked to the net-front battling for positioning, deflecting shots, and gathering rebounds.”

Knuble went unselected in last year’s draft, so on second effort the Flyers pick him up.

His dad was here from 2005 to 2009 (main stint) and was on the squad that went to the Conference Finals. He had 34 goals his first season and a career-high 65 points. Nice run for him as a late bloomer who didn’t start playing his best hockey until he turned 30.

Let’s give Cole Knuble a warm Philadelphia welcome.
