A tradition like no other. The Cup coming back to Sea Isle with a player or staff member from a different organization than the Flyers. This year Golden Knights coach John Stevens is back again for his SECOND time with The Cup just trolling his former employer:

It’s fitting he made a stop at the Sea Isle VFW because the people who hang out there are the only ones that remember the last time the Flyers lifted it:

Last time Stevens brought The Cup to Sea Isle, thousand of Flyers fans were falling over themselves trying to get pictures with it:

This time Stevens is going to be low key with it, according to Adam Kimelman at NHL.com:

“The first time we took it to Canada where I grew up,” Stevens said. “The second time we brought it to Sea Isle, where the kids grew up. This time it’s coming back to Sea Isle. It’s been almost a decade, nine years, since we won it last. We’re trying to tone it down a little bit. Just kind of casually hanging out, relax with friends and family and now the kids’ friends.”

Stevens and his wife have had a home in the beachfront town about 30 miles south of Atlantic City since 2009.

“This is where I come to recharge my batteries,” he said. “We’ve always had this as our anchor to come back to. It’s kind of our home base, our roots now. … This time we just we wanted to get the Cup here and spend some time at the house and not leave the island. It’s just a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends. The kids have lots of good friends around here too, and they’re all excited about it. So it’s just more about sharing it with your family and close friends.”

Someone from the Sea Isle tourism board should clip that second quote and build an advertisement around visiting Sea Isle. John Stevens has coached in places like LA with beautiful beaches and Vegas with world class entertainment and he still rather live at The Shore in the summer.

The Cup does look like it made a pit stop at O’Donnells Pour House though:

If you saw John Stevens chugging out of The Cup or see The Cup throwing napkins tonight at Dead Dog send all your pictures and video to @CrossingBroad.
