Avonte Maddox Might be Done for the Year
We did a post a few weeks ago called “50 Infallible Predictions for the 2023 Eagles Season.” Listed at number four was “Avonte Maddox will become injured at some point and miss time,” and sure enough:
Eagles’ DB Avonte Maddox is feared to have torn his pectoral during Thursday night’s win over the Vikings, per source. He is expected to get a second opinion; if it is confirmed, he would be out for the season.

It’s worse than we predicted. He won’t just “miss time,” he might miss all of the time.
Maddox is key to what they do in the secondary, since nobody covers the slot the way he does. When Maddox went down last season, we had the Josiah Scott experience, and now we have… only God knows what. James Bradberry going into the slot? Josh Jobe playing on the outside? More Mario Goodrich? Reminder that Zech McPhearson is already done for the year, so they’re technically down two slot guys now. That’s on top of Reed Blankenship missing the Vikings game and the Eagles turning to Terrell Edmunds to play safety opposite Justin Evans. Next man up!
