Philly can’t stop racking up Ws. On the same weekend the Phillies were shutting out the Braves and the Eagles were improving to 5-0, Bill Algeo won again in the UFC:

And then Joe Pyfer got a submission win in the co-main event.

For Bill, that’s four wins in his last five fights. He’s fun to watch, fights with that karate-style stance and throws spinning attacks and uses his length well. The 34-year-old Delco native, now training out of KOP, is 18-7 in his career  and 5-3 in the UFC. He’s in line to get an opponent just outside the top 15-20 in his next fight.

Joe Pyfer, meantime, is a dawg. We’ve mentioned him a couple of times on the site, but he’s a South Jersey guy who had a tough upbringing and ended up wrestling at Penncrest in Delco. I was going to put an asterisk on Delco in the headline because I am honestly not sure what he claims, not sure what home region he would choose to use, so we’ll have to get him on the podcast one of these times and ask him what he prefers. But yeah, he subbed Abdul Razak Alhassan with a second-round arm triangle choke to improve to 12-2 in MMA and 3-0 in the UFC. He’s 27 years old and on a five-fight win streak across multiple promotions, so he’s really got some potential and a nice future ahead of him.
