Pray for Philly: Mike Richards is Returning in January for the Flyers Alumni Game

Mike Richards is coming back to Philly in January so that’s a good time to get your girlfriend far away:
Flyers announce former captain Mike Richards will be taking part in the Flyers vs. Bruins alumni game on Jan. 26.
I believe this will be the first time Richards will put on a Flyers jersey since he was traded to the LA Kings the day before the 2011 NHL Draft.

Lets update the youngins who might’ve recently stumbled upon this site about the legend of Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. They were the best 1-2 punch on the Flyers in the mid-2000s to early-2010s on and off the ice. Kyle Scott used to have a weekly spot on here that was called Morning Carts, which featured mostly Jeff Carter, but sometimes Mike Richards partying in Center City, at Phillies games, and especially in Sea Isle. If you stumbled upon Morning Carts nowadays you wouldn’t believe them. From the frosted tips to the Ed Hardy graphic tees to pictures of athletes openly partying and taking pictures with fans while facing a bottle of Johnny Walker. It’s like taking a time machine to a century ago. It got so crazy Peter Laviolette instituted “Dry Island” when he became the head coach. The Flyers broke up the core in the summer of 2011, which Kyle Scott probably had a part in. Nowadays Kyle just bought a news company, Carter plays for the Pens, and Mike Richards is retired. We’re a long way from the glory days. The blogs are an amazing walk down memory lane.
So again, forewarning, if you’re in your 20s and you love your girlfriend and you plan on staying with your girlfriend. It’s a good time to plan a romantic getaway to the Poconos with her the weekend of January 26th. Because Mike Richards and his teammates will be in town. Sidenote: it absolutely sucks Jeff Carter is still playing in the league. I think the Pens should cut him or at least give him the weekend off for one last romp for old time’s sake. It would create the most powerful polar vortex this city has ever seen. Leave the snow over the border though Richie.
It doesn’t mean we can’t use our imaginations still – USING PICTURES FROM MORNING CARTS BLOGS OF YEARS PAST! Lets get into it!
Friday Carter and Richie start off the weekend with a nice Italian dinner where they split a scampi and a 30 rack of Miller Lite as an appetizer:
Richie, always the gentleman, lets Carter take the leftovers home so he can drunkenly eat it on the floor like David Hasselhoff after he stumbles back to his hotel room.
Later they skate their way through Center City. Grab a boob or two, pull straight from a bottle they stole from behind the bar, and take the type of pictures that make you wonder if they’re really just friends:
Looking at some of these pictures is like getting into a time machine. The 2010s were awesome!
Saturday they’ll hit Carter’s honeymoon spot – Sea Isle! – and wipe out Kix McNulty’s of all their Miller Lite:
Pop over to the OD because La Costa (RIP) is curtains, but not before they pay their respects:
Pick up some locals at the OD or Dead Dog and take them back to play beer pong at Carter’s spot. The funny thing is most of these girls in these pictures are probably soccer moms picking their kids up from the bus right now:
The beds up against the wall with a barbell resting on it are *chef’s kiss.* I miss cramming 12 people into a two-bedroom place for the summer. Growing up blows.
Carter kicks a Sea Isle local out of his bed the next morning as is tradition and they re-route down the Garden State Parkway in time to catch the Sixers game Sunday night:
Maybe some karaoke at McGillin’s to end the night before they head back to their boring mundane lives again.
Reminder for those who won’t heed my warning… these are the pictures we were allowed to publish.
We might have to bring back a special Morning Carts that Monday if we readers send us enough things.
Man we should’ve won a Cup with these two. The end.
