Run the ball! Shine that Penny! CNN confirms that this was a mostly peaceful protest. Better than mobbing some falafel restaurant.
Are these the same two guys who were out there in 2017? Hard to tell, but maybe we can get that confirmed. What’s funny is that when the “Roll that Blount” demand was made back then, the Birds proceeded to bring in Jay Ajayi, finish with the NFL’s 3rd-most rushing yards, and then go on to win the Super Bowl.
Funny thing is, those guys were right. The Birds were coming off a Kansas City road loss in which they threw the ball something like 46 times and ran it only 17 times, with four of those attempts going to Carson Wentz. It was an Andy Reid-esque type of ratio. Then they got LeGarrette Blount going and it was aces from there.
Same thing currently. The Eagles have gotten away from the run game and D’Andre Swift lately, after all of the success he had early in the season. Swift ran the ball 6 times against San Francisco and his carries dropped to 14 and 12 against Buffalo and KC, respectively. So naturally you have people who come out and want to see the Birds get behind this great offensive line and POUND THE ROCK. I agree with them! Run the fucking ball! You don’t need to have a 50/50 run/pass ratio, but they’ve been toss happy in recent weeks and it would be nice to see them get back to what they were doing in September. They’re currently 9th in the NFL in total rushing yards, but the 4.1 YPC number is down to 18th overall. Getting the ground game back on track would take a bit of pressure off Hurts, who looked a little Carson-esque at times on Sunday night in the way he was holding the ball, looking for open receivers.
ROLL THAT BLOUNT! SHINE THAT PENNY!
