Eagles

What Do We Think was Going on Here?

This was a curious sequence at the end of Monday night’s win:

Could be something, could be nothing.

That’s LB coach D.J. Eliot (edit – my bad, that’s OLB/DE coach Jeremiah Washburn, he’s got the edge rushers, and Eliot replaced Nick Rallis, so I think he focuses more on the interior guys like Morrow, Cunningham, etc) that Sirianni is speaking with. You could see Haason Reddick yelling something while on the field. That part definitely jumped out while watching the game live. There’s a player, his position coach, and head coach involved in some kind of argument/discussion, and Sirianni looks to be saying something like “…go win it, ??? back on the field.” At least that’s what it looks like to me. We need a lip reader up in here.

For some situational context, this was after the failed New York 3rd and 8, which forced 4th and 8 at the Philly 46 yard line with less than 30 seconds. Reddick had been flagged earlier for roughing the passer (when he tripped over himself), and the Giants didn’t have any timeouts left, so the stoppage allowed them to reset. Maybe the Eagles had some sort of alignment or personnel issue as well. It’s one thing for Reddick, Sirianni, and Eliot to be speaking, but DeVonta Smith’s involvement is curious, since he’s an offensive player and not involved in this at all. That makes me think it had something to do with the timeout, but who knows?

Anyway, you tell me what you see. Could be a something burger or possibly a nothing burger. The Eagles won, but didn’t look great doing it. Didn’t do anything to assuage any concerns.
