Phillies Avoid Arbitration with Jeff Hoffman and Ranger Suarez
Matt Gelb on it:

Phillies and Ranger Suárez agreed to a $5.05 million salary for 2024 to avoid arbitration. They have four other arb-eligibles who could reach deals today: Alec Bohm, Gregory Soto, Jeff Hoffman and Edmundo Sosa.

Next order of business is to extend Hoffman, because he was one of the best bullpen arms down the stretch for the Phillies. He pitched seven postseason innings and allowed two runs on five hits, with both of those runs coming in the 5-4 Game 2 loss to the Braves. That’s when he hit Ronald Acuna Jr. and then Austin Riley homered. He was great otherwise. Same with Ranger, who was excellent in his first three starts. Game 7 against the Diamondbacks is what it is.
