I get it. This play from Monday night was going absolutely nowhere, and Jalen Hurts made a wise/business decision, but my inner WIP uncle was LIVID with QB1 for not throwing a block:

That’s Lavonte David coming in hot to make the tackle. Do we want the quarterback with a wrapped middle finger on his throwing hand throwing a borderline crack back block (which is illegal) on a 233-pound linebacker? I guess not. Zyon McCollum (#27) is right there anyway, so if Jalen does legally put a body on David, then the Eagles are… what? Losing four yards instead of six?

I guess the thing that bothers me is that Hurts took the safety two plays later, and the huge loss of yardage here was what put them behind the sticks in the first place. So even if you excuse Jalen for doing the matador routine on 1st down, and letting David go right by him, then that 3rd down play needed to come with a lot more urgency. Instead, he Wentz’d it.

Can’t help it though. The angry WIP caller exists inside of all of us, like a primal urge. We can only attempt to suppress it, kind of like a Bruce Banner/Incredible Hulk thing.
