Travis Konecny Only Needed the First Period to Notch a Gordie Howe Hat Trick
The Flyers are buzzing right now! They’re 2-0 since the All Star break and Travis Konecny, fresh off his appearance in Toronto, needed only four minutes on the ice to complete one of the greatest achievements in the NHL, The Gordie Howe Hat Trick.
What a legend.
It started with a fight where he dropped Neal Pionk:

I can’t imagine anything more emasculating in the NHL than a guy dropping you and laying on your lifeless body. Earl Hebner should’ve ran on the ice to complete the three count:
Even better was Konecny using Pionk as a ricochet for his goal. If I’m Pionk I’m heading to the locker room at that point and hanging up the skates for the night:

I’d say this is the most impressive Gordie in Flyers history, but that would be a lie because the Flyers had TWO Gordies in the first period against the Islanders back in 2017. That came courtesy of Wayne Simmonds and Dale Weise:
I love Simmonds getting in Anders Lee’s ear like Weise already got his Gordie. You’re going to have to dance with me.
Hockey rules.
P.S. Did you know former Flyer Rick Tocchet has the most Gordies ever with 18? Now you do.
