The Eagles are losing their salary cap guru, via Jeff McLane at the Inky:

Jake Rosenberg, the Eagles’ longtime salary cap executive and one of general manager Howie Roseman’s closest aides, is leaving the team when his contract expires after the NFL draft next month.

Rosenberg, whose formal title is vice president of football administration, said that the decision was his alone and that he hopes to stay in the NFL and work for a team in which he can pursue his goal of becoming a GM.

Roseman confirmed that Rosenberg, a friend since they were in elementary school, will not return after 12 seasons with the Eagles — many that ended with playoff appearances and one with a Super Bowl victory.

I appreciate Jake waiting for the initial rush of free agency to be over before his watch ended. That’s a good lieutenant. Someone who respects Howie enough not to screw them over and have them scrambling before one of the busiest moments of the offseason.

Also, what a way to go out, with the CJGJ, Saquon, and Landon Dickerson contracts. I haven’t seen someone with a last trick up his sleeve like this since Jesus Christ himself rose from the dead. Happy Holy Wednesday btw, everyone. This guy moves money better than Marty Byrde (I just started season 3 of Ozark so if this reference doesn’t make sense any longer shut up and don’t spoil it):

It’s pretty nuts how many important execs the Eagles have lost in the last decade. Every year it seems like someone is poached from the front office. Joe Douglas, Andrew Berry, Catherine Raiche, Ian Cunningham, Brandon Brown, and Andy Weidl have all gone on to bigger and better positions. Rosenberg and Alec Halaby will probably follow. Fuck a QB factory, Howie is building an Exec. Factory. It sucks that Capstradamus is leaving, but Howie’s going to take his seven loaves and one fish and replenish the well again.
