Let’s get it back to baseball and the National League East with Miami’s Jazz Chisholm Jr. ripping some of his former teammates on The Pivot podcast with Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder:

“The vets, you can’t be a team leader when you’ve got guys that’s been in the clubhouse that’s been in there nine or 10 years even though they suck. They’ve been there for nine or 10 years and the team calls them the ‘team captain.’ But they’re not a good captain, they’re not a good person, you’re not even a good athlete at this point. You’re just here and you’re bringing down the young guys that are supposed to be good.”

It seems as though Miguel Rojas is the veteran in question, while the young prospect is believed to be Jesus Sanchez.

But is anybody surprised that the Marlins’ culture was (allegedly) butt? The team has a grand total of one playoff series win since 2004, and that was the fugazi COVID year when they made the postseason with a 31-29 record. They had a decade worth of guys who were “not even a good athlete at this point.” The team has had two winning records since 2009 and was got swept in both of their series losses over the past 20 years.

Chisholm is also a doofus himself. You may recall his grand declaration that the 2023 Wild Card series would not make it to Thursday. He was right, because the Phillies won the series 2-0 and outscored the Marlins 11 to 2 in the process. Jazz finished the series 0-8 with four strikeouts. He dogged it to first base in Game 1 and squared up to bunt down one with two outs and nobody on 2nd or 3rd. The Marlins were not even close to being ready for the bright lights.
