Brad Shaw handled media duties after the Flyers clawed their way back for an overtime point in Carolina:

This was a good OT point, yes. Any pragmatic Flyers fan would have been satisfied with two points against the Leafs on Tuesday and a road point against Carolina on Thursday. As long as the team is getting results, then Torts can scratch his captain for a second straight game, or be a prick, or… keep his best forwards glued to the bench for the overtime period? Seriously. That’s the question I had after Thursday’s game (and other games this season), but Shaw was trotted out there as the media dog and pony show continues.

Question:

Hey Brad, can you explain why Torts had Ryan Poehling on the ice to start the overtime period?

Where’s Owen Tippett? Where’s Travis Konecny? Where’s Morgan Frost? He started the OT period with Poehling, Tyson Foerster, and Travis Sanheim. Carolina had a 2v1 breakout within 45 seconds of the puck drop. Then Joel Farabee and Cam York come in with Scott Laughton. Farabee gets a decent look, but then 10 seconds later there’s another 2v1 and Seth Jarvis scores the game winner.

The Flyers had a good third period and tied the game twice after falling behind twice. Maybe they could have stolen an overtime win. I’m not some hockey expert, and therefore interested in hearing what the head coach has to say about this.
