The Eagles did their annual Autism Challenge bike ride this weekend, and thankfully no players were hit by a car this year. Meantime, these photos of Jordan Davis are CIRCULATING and people have quite a bit to say! –

This is where we’re at on the sports calendar, analyzing still photos of Eagles players on May 20th. That being said… he looks pretty good there, does he not? They say the camera adds 10 pounds, but unless that’s an ultra-favorable angle, he looks pretty slim, especially in the belly region.

Pulling some photos from the end of last season, this is what he looked like 4-5 months ago. The pads are on, yeah, but take a look and tell me what you think:

Davis has been the topic of much discussion over the past two years. He was drafted in the first round as a run stuffer and big body on the defensive interior. He played much better in the first 10-11 games of this past year, then seemed to drop off a bit as snap counts increased and the Birds as a team started to slide.

The questions about his weight are admittedly nebulous, however, because you have to preface them with another question – what is Jordan Davis supposed to be in 2024? What does Vic Fangio, his third defensive coordinator in the NFL, need from him? Is he lining up directly over the center in this system? Probably not. Fangio is known for light boxes, which means multi-gap responsibilities for interior linemen. And if that’s the case, with Davis anchoring some form of a 3-4 or 5-2, whatever you wanna call it, then yeah, he’s probably going to have to play at 325+ to be effective. Dexter Lawrence and Vita Vea play at what, 340? Is it a number on a scale, or endurance? Experience? System? Innate motivation and desire? Too many variables. Fundamentally, you could ask if it makes senses to deploy a run stopping specialist in a passing league, but when the Birds were getting gashed, they had to go out and sign Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh to fill the void.

Regardless, year 3 is a big one for Jordan Davis.
