Awesome. Only the 10th cycle in Phillies history and the 2nd from a Phil at Citizens bank park.

I remember that Lave Cross performance like it was yesterday.

Wilson joked after the game that right fielder Alex Call, who couldn’t make the catch, had “robbed me plenty of times in the minor leagues… played against him a lot and he’s a great outfielder, I thought it was more in the gap and saw him closing in and thought ‘you gotta be kidding me,’ saw it trickle out and fortunately he didn’t catch it. ”

He was also well aware of what was going on when he stepped up to the plate.

“I was aware because Harper was at the top step letting me know,” Wilson laughed. “If you hit it, keep running. Don’t stop until second. So I knew about it. When I was in the on-deck circle I heard plenty of people saying it. Definitely knew.”

Wilson told reporters he’s taking home his batting gloves, but that the rest of the gear is supposedly going to Major League Baseball. “I wanted something, but I figured they would probably want the bat,” he said. He was thankful to find himself on a short list of Phillies to hit for the cycle in a long team history.

“A lot of great company, people and players who have played here, so to have done that, it’s honestly kind of a blur right now. I’m just trying to process everything. Just very grateful.”

Sidenote: this is the second-straight August where we’ve had a historic night involving Weston Wilson at Citizens Bank Park. This year? The cycle. Last year? It was the night where Michael Lorenzen threw a no-hitter, Wilson homered in his big league debut, and some guy was spotted in front of Wilson’s family in the crowd wearing a “Fuck You” t-shirt, which we later deduced was a Fashion Nova T that said “fuck love.”
