Pennsylvania online casinos and sports betting operators had a successful month of July in the Keystone State.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board released the state’s July gaming report this week. All forms of gaming revenue in the state, including sports betting, iGaming, and daily fantasy contests, totaled $500.78 million for the month, an increase of 7.22% compared with revenue generated in July 2023.

Total tax revenue collected for all forms of gaming was $207.72 million for the month.

iGaming, Slots Lead Way in Pennsylvania

Retail slots and iGaming slot revenue led the way in Pennsylvania for another month, as retail slots notched $204.3 million in revenue and online slots at $125.4 million. Retail slot revenue actually experienced a nearly 5% decrease in revenue from the July 2023 totals, while iGaming slot revenues increased by more than 32% from the 2023 totals.

In total, iGaming revenues came in at $174,318,463 for for the month, a jump of 31.2% compared with the $132,859,997 gross revenue iGaming totals in July 2023. iGaming table game and poker revenues lagged behind slot totals, with table games coming in at $125.4 million and poker at just $2.29 million.


Tax revenues generated from iGaming during July 2024 was $75,545,125.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course dominated the state, topping all iGaming revenues at $64 million in July. Valley Forget Casino Resort was second in the state, reported $45.5 million in iGaming revenues, with Rivers Casino Philadelphia rounding out the top-three at $29.8 million in revenue.

Sports Betting Has Big July Run

Pennsylvania bettors flocked to their online and retail sportsbooks this past month, as the state reported $414,673,804 in handle for July, a 22.52% increase over the July 2023 handle total of $338.4 million.

Additionally, the sports betting tax revenue figure for July 2024 was $38,565,690, 20.18% higher when compared to July 2023, when taxable revenue was $32,089,785. Tax revenue generated from online and retail sports wagering during July 2024 was $13,883,648.

FanDuel again led the way in Pennsylvania, reported $166.37 million in total sports betting handle for the month. DraftKings was the only other operator in the state to eclipse $100 million in handle for the month, as the operator notched $110.3 million, good for second in commonwealth.

The state welcomed a new operator in July, as bet365 launched on July 23 through its partnership with Presque Isle Downs and Casino. It totaled $6.26 million in handle in just eight days of operation, but it lost nearly $665,000 in that span.
