The Phillies unveiled a new jersey sponsorship on Wednesday. There was even a hype video. IBX is now on three team jerseys in this city. The IBX Center might be next. Any time there is change an old-school city like Philly is due to freak out. I broke the news to a lot of people. Let’s go to the video:

A lot of mixed reviews. If the Phils start winning the people will love the patch. If they continue their free fall it’ll be the fat cats just squeezing every last dollar they can. I personally don’t give a shit about patches. John Middleton is spending money and that’s fine by me. When there’s no salary cap every dollar counts. If we can squeeze one more ad on the new out of town scoreboard that lands the next great Japanese pitcher or helps them land a free agent during the Hot Stove I say make the Phillies jersey look like a NASCAR suit.

Now Wawa not sponsoring the sleeve was a big miss. Especially because Sheetz is the Pirates’ sleeve sponsor. It’s a literal gas station arms race in PA at every moment. How does the Goose let Sheetz get the upper hand this time? Are they too focused on westward expansion? Are they broke over there in Delco? The people of Philadelphia deserve answers. 90% of Phillies fans said they’d rather Wawa replace the current patch. It was a no brainer. Unless they’re saving up naming rights for the stadium…
