Familiarity breeds offense.

At least in the case of the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves, when Aaron Nola and Max Fried pitch.

Some of the batter vs. pitcher numbers on both sides of the coin are staggering.

For example, Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and J.T. Realmuto all have multiple home runs off Max Fried, Nick Castellanos has a .500 batting average in 12 at-bats, and Alec Bohm owns a .292 batting average in 24 at-bats.

Marcell Ozuna alone has four home runs against Nola. Travis d’Arnaud, Matt Olson, Michael Harris II, and Adam Duvall all have multiple homers against Nola. The numbers would even more eye-popping if Austin Riley, who has six dingers against Nola, was healthy.

Nola got shelled by the Braves in his first start of 2024 and has allowed 16 hits and 10 earned runs in two starts versus Atlanta this season.

Meanwhile, Fried did not make it out of the first inning in his first outing of the year at Citizens Bank Park and allowed five earned runs off 11 hits to the Phils on July 5th.

So, yeah, needless to say there’s a lot of potential for green bet slips to be flying around the internet at about 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

The recent form of both pitchers suggests it will be a big night for hitters as well.

Nola let up at least seven hits in each of his last four starts, while Fried allowed 13 earned runs off 16 hits in three August starts.

The ideal player prop targets on each team have to be Ozuna and Harris for Atlanta, who have been the most consistent hitters in that lineup and have great numbers against Nola, and then a combination of Turner, Bohm, Castellanos and Realmuto for the Phillies.

I would recommend some sort of hit parlay at Pennsylvania sportsbook apps for the four Phillies since Fried’s numbers look worse of late compared to Nola. He did give up seven hits to the Washington Nationals in his last start, but he did not allow an earned run.

Ozuna and Turner should be the best options for home run props given their seven combined home runs against Wednesday’s starting pitchers.

Or if you just wanted to keep it simple, I would bet the over 7.5 and explore the team totals for both sides.
