Eagles Listed as Slight 1.5-Point Favorite For Week 4 Road Clash with Buccaneers
The Philadelphia Eagles are still favored in Week 4 despite dealing with a few key offensive injuries to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Brown appeared at practice on Friday, but he’s dealing with a hamstring issue that the Eagles certainly don’t want to rush. Smith is still listed with a concussion that he suffered in the Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints:

Still, the Eagles are a 1.5-point favorite on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at NJ sports betting apps. The over/under sits at 42.5. There will not be any lingering affects from Hurricane Helene, but there will be the usual Florida humidity you get this time of year in that area. Both the Birds and the Bucs possess 2-1 against the spread records this season. It’s still very early to define a trend, but the Eagles are 2-0 ATS away from Philadelphia in 2024. The Bucs are 1-1 ATS inside Raymond James Stadium and their overall betting profile is all over the place more than the Eagles.
Tampa Bay defeated the Washington Commanders by 17 as a four-point favorite in Week 1, won outright as a 7.5-point underdog in Week 2 in Detroit and then lost outright as a six-point favorite at home against the Denver Broncos in Week 3.
The Eagles and Bucs are also both 1-2 to the over this season. Each team hit the over in Week 1, but then their games in the last two weeks have gone under. Both of the unders hit in Eagles games this year came against NFC South squads. NFC South teams are currently 5-7 to the under this season, so while not exactly a trend yet, it’s at least worth noting as an intriguing fact.
All of the Eagles player props will not be listed until Friday afternoon or later when we have a final injury designation for both Brown and Smith. Saquon Barkley’s rushing yard prop is listed at over/under 75.5. The Bucs are in the middle of the pack when it comes to rushing yards allowed, but they are one of 11 teams to concede at least three rushing touchdowns. That’s something worth noting for Barkley and Jalen Hurts touchdown props.
As for the Bucs, the game script is fairly simple. Baker Mayfield will try to get the ball to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on a regular basis. The Eagles have allowed the 12th-most receiving yards to wide receivers and are only one of five teams to give up five or more touchdowns to wide outs. Godwin’s been the more effective of the two wide outs through three weeks, which is why his reception and receiving yard props are higher than Evans.
My guess is one of the two Tampa wide outs goes off because of the weaknesses still in the Eagles secondary, but like last week against the Saints, the Eagles defense can absorb a 70-80-90-yard performance by containing the run and limiting the Bucs to field goals.
