Not trying to put a lot of stock in Matvei Michkov’s first game ever at the Wells Fargo Center because it’s the preseason, but I’m pretty sure this is going to be the greatest Flyer of all time. Michkovmania is coming and it’s going to run WILD all over the league:

What a night. 1 goal, 1 assist and a player of the game. That ENG celly was amazing! Guys got that much energy in a preseason game imagine when he lights the lamp in the regular season. He might superkick a defenseman through the glass like Shawn Michaels.*

The play of the night easily was  Michkov hitting Cam York with an insane pass that ended up in a rebound for Erik Johnson to bury:

Cam York wasn’t even in the frame when Michkov starts his pass:

The haters are furious. All we heard about him was that he was a hot dog, only cared about the offensive zone, and was a bad teammate. Don’t look now but his teammates already love him and he’s taking control of the offense via Jon Bailey at PhillyHockeyNow.com:

“A lot of learning. It’s obviously still so early, so there’s obviously a little bit of language barrier. So, Tip and I just trying to explain what we can to Mitchie,” said Morgan Frost. “He’s a creative guy and he loves the game, and he’s already telling us stuff that he wants us to do and whatnot, so it’s exciting. I think hopefully we can create some and stick together for a while.”

Owen Tippett was doing anything he could to get him his first goal:

The only thing more electric than his goal cellys is his Instagram. I can’t get enough of it. Every picture has the same energy of a divorced dad that traveled outside the country for the first time in his life. Mid-life crisis? What mid-life crisis? I’m in New York having the time of my life! Can’t you see?

It’s filled with off-centered photos of historic landmarks and captions that describe mundane life tasks. I can’t get enough:

Every dad ever on a stadium tour has taken this exact picture in the locker room:

*Sorry for the multiple wrestling analogies. I’ve been watching the Mr. McMahon doc on Netflix and it’s amazing reliving my childhood in the Attitude Era.
