I'm Backing the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to Take Care of Business Against Washington and Improve to 4-0
Meant to do this earlier in the week but just never got around to it. Rutgers football deserves a shout out for going down to Blacksburg and taking out the VPI Hokie Chokers in their own house. It was a game that featured the most goofy-ass safety you will ever see:

The Brent Pry era. Not going well down there! They’ve lost to Old Dominion, Marshall, Vanderbilt, and now Rutgers twice. It’s so bad that Metallica is considering filing a cease and desist if they play Enter Sandman at the next home game.
But let’s talk about the Scarlet Knights because we have Rutgers readers. They are 3-0 for the fourth straight year, and while the previous three only amounted to one winning season, Greg Schiano has the boys playing well. Yes, they did build up a 23-7 lead and almost blew it before getting the late field goal this past Saturday, but they’re running the hell out of the football. They ran it 52 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns and Kyle Monongai is already up to 457 yards and five touchdowns on 72 carries this year. Granted, two of those games were against Howard and Akron at home, but this is the same Monogai who went for 100+ last year against Maryland, Ohio State, Indiana, Michigan State, Miami, VPI, and Temple. He’s the real deal. And while QB Athan Kaliakmanis isn’t on the Heisman watch, he went for 250+ and didn’t turn it over in Blacksburg. If you get the run game going, you can open up the play-action portion of the call sheet and find your success that way.
I don’t know if Rutgers is a contender or not, but they’ve got Washington at home this weekend, a team that has to fly cross country and no longer has Michael Penix Jr. under center. Or in the shotgun. They do have SEC transfer Will Rogers, who is solid, but they lost at home to rival Wazzou and haven’t played a single road game yet, so if I’m a betting man, which I am, I’m taking Rutgers as a -2.5 favorite. I am all in on the Knights this year. Actually, I’m gonna do something I never do. I’m going to GUARANTEE a win. I guarantee that the Knights get it done at home on Friday night under the bright lights to improve to 4-0. Then they go to Nebraska to play Matt Rhule’s Cornhuskers in a game that is totally winnable. But they need to get it done in Piscataway and take that momentum into the heartland. My team stinks this year and so does Temple, so I’ve adopted Rutgers as my CFB squad in 2024. RU RAH RAH!
