MLB is Putting Ads on Helmets During the Playoffs

You’re going to get ads on baseball helmets and you’re going to like it, because MLB just cut a deal with ZEEEE GERMANS and a company that sells cargo work pants with enough pockets for union guys to haul their tools and their chew in. Details from the Associated Press:
Major League Baseball teams will have advertising on their helmets during the postseason.
MLB said Friday it reached a deal for the postseason ads through 2027 with Strauss, a German apparel company that entered the U.S. market last year.
Ads of 5-by-0.92 inches (12.7-by-2.3 centimeters) will be on each side of every helmet featuring “STRAUSS” in capital letters in white alongside the company’s ostrich logo silhouetted by a red square, with an alternate color for red helmets.
Strauss also will appear on the helmets of the 120 affiliated minor league teams from 2025-27.
I’ve honestly stopped caring about ads on jerseys or helmets a long time ago. This was inevitable. As long as the Phillies use their cut to build a consistent winner they can take the diamond looking like a NASCAR driver for all I care. I’m assuming John Middleton’s 2024 payout will become a sunk cost when they DFA Taijuan Walker this summer. I’ll buy a ton of ice cream Strauss-branded mini-helmets during Red October for the cause.
We already saw the Phils wear helmets with ads on them during the London Series and to be honest I barely noticed the ZOOM:
