The Phillies Can't Wait to Bring Back Dollar Dog Night the Second They Suck Again
Shout out to this Rowan kid for grilling a Phillies employee about why they got rid of DDN. Give that kid an A:

“The promotion was too successful so we cancelled it.” This is coming from the same organization who wants to squeeze every last dollar out of you. Remember the Commemorative NLDS Ticket email before the wounds even healed? If you think one of the reasons the Phillies cancelled DDN because it was “too successful” I got beachfront property in Idaho I’d like to sell you. They freaked out because Phillies fans throwing hot dogs made national headlines and some goofy season ticket holders complained. The same season ticket holders that abandoned you during the playoff drought and will abandon you again when the team stinks. And the second the Phillies start to stink again they’ll bring Dollar Dog Night back. They might even bring it back this year the way free agency is going.
Man you can tell the suits really hammer “family friendly environment” to their employees, huh? I counted three times this dude said it in a 49 second clip. It’s ironic they love to shove that phrase down our throats, but also embrace the “Red October”, “Four Hours of Hell”, and “Bedlam at the Bank” mantra because they can slap it on a t-shirt and hawk more merch in their now expanded team store.
And I’m not getting on this dude. He’s the lamb being sent to slaughter. You couldn’t pass the buck faster than this guy did. The problem I’ve always had is that it felt like the Phillies tried to pass the blame rather than fix it. They cite “unruly behavior” and long lines. It’s the Tim Robinson “We’re all trying to find the guy who did this!” meme. It was a couple people throwing hot dogs. Why punish the entire fanbase? The lines were too crowded? Well figure out a better system. They were the ones who stopped taking cash so transactions became longer and they didn’t deploy enough hot dog guys around the concourse. They put in a limit of four per transaction. Maybe it should’ve been two. Maybe there needed to be more than three per season. The Astros have one every Tuesday home game and they are consistently top-5 in attendance. Aramark is perfectly fine with hiring people when their workers go on strike why not just bring in extra reinforcements when you know there is a DDN? I’m a solutions guy. Feels like we need a couple in the Phillies’ org.
Instead it felt like they were looking for any reason to cancel the promotion and got a gift when fans started throwing them to a guy who wanted to set his hot dog PR. And now it’s led to a BOGO Night and the Mets enjoying your ex-girlfriend:
