Big Play Slay was on Amon-Ra St. Brown’s podcast:

“I got one more (year) left, but you know how that works… so whatever they wanna do, I might resign back hopefully, but if they ain’t, maybe I’ll see what we’re (?) doing because I do wanna play one more year for sure… I love Detroit, I got nothing but love, that’s my second home, I do a lot for the city still… For sure the two spots I would always love to be at are Philly and (Detroit).”

Slay has one more season at a $13 million cap hit before those Howie Roseman void years start kicking in. According to Over the Cap, if the Eagles cut Slay after June 1st, they’d take on a $9.4 million dead cap hit this year. It’s slightly annoying trying to make sense of it all, since Howie weaves an intricate web, but here’s the blurb:

“Darius Slay renegotiated his contract with the Eagles. The new contract runs for 3 years and is worth $39 million with $24.5 millon guaranteed. Slay received a $10.185 million signing bonus and has a guaranteed option in the 2nd year of the contract.  There is another option in 2025 that is worth $16.1 million. The final four years of the contract are void years for salary cap purposes. The new contract reduced Slay’s salary cap number in 2023 by $14.283 million.”

Okay anyway, the real question is whether you run it back with Slay for one more year or hand the keys to Kelee Ringo. You’d have a very young corner group of Quinyon Mitchell, Coooooooooper Dejean, and Ringo. They can also tender Isaiah Rodgers, who is a restricted free agent.
