Sal Paolantonio put on his Kenesaw Mountain Landis pants and investigated the Eagles’ turf performances this season:

As you know, we’ve never written a bad thing about Sal Pal on this website. Great stats from him.

The Eagles’ 2024/2025  turf games were:

  • at New Orleans (15-12 win)
  • at Giants (28-3 win)
  • at Cincy (37-17 win)
  • at Dallas (34-6 win)
  • at Rams (37-20 win)

Saquon Barkley played well in these games. Obviously he is used to playing on turf, since MetLife was his home ground for his first six NFL seasons. In the five games listed above, Barkley finished with 96 carries for 752 yards and five touchdowns. That’s a 150 yard average and 7.8 yards per rush. In three of those games, he had a run of 50+. The outlier is the massive, 255-yard performance in Los Angeles, and New York and New Orleans stink, but Cincy and LA were good teams. Factor all of that in however you will.

What’s nice about this Super Bowl is that the Sod Father is nowhere near it. There will be no controversy about overwatering or underwatering and nobody will be talking about Tahoma 31. We’re not gonna have to go to some grass expert at Del Val University for quotes. This is a consistent playing surface and Haason Reddick isn’t going to be slipping and sliding all over the place. You’d think Super Bowl 57 was played on a Dorney Park waterslide.
